A Rocking Weekend

Yesterday I had the great pleasure in witnessing one of the great live bands of all time in a cinema, and no less in IMAX!!  Of course I'm talking about the new Metallica movie Through The Never.  From the opening "let's get the band to the gig with comedy introductions" to the "initimate performance" rolling credits you are always engaged...completely!!

I've been a long time Metallica fan, since I first heard Master Of Puppets, and have stayed faithfull along the changes, which personnaly I think have been good for the band, allowing then to stretch their creative muscles.

The setlist for the gig covers all aspects of the Metallica's discography, old and new so most should be happy, and it's seamlessly edited down to a meagre 92 minutes, far less than a traditional Metallica gig.  The film footage throughout mimics the subject matter and feel of the songs constantly going on in real-time, and works superbly.

I must say I didn't know quite what to expect from the film/live action performance, but it is certainly one I will never forget.  I recommend anyone to see it if you can, in IMAX it really is like being there.

Before I saw the film last night, the postman delivered my copy of HAIM's debut album Days Are Gone.

I've been listening to the album for the past week, and must say I'm very impressed.  I saw their set at Glastonbury this year and was surprised how tight the band were, and how catchy their songs were too.  The album is the same, filled with catchy but not overly pop orientated songs, their roots are firmly in the rock category.  The vocals and musicianship of the band just shines through, and I really think these girls are a band to watch.  I can certainly see them being as big as Paramore given the right backing, maybe even bigger.

So if you haven't already take a listen, you never know they might just draw you in.

Don't forget there's still 10% off your order in the shop, so fill your boots and use the HALLOWEEN10 code to get that 10% off!!!
